FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup to kick off in 2019

Michelin is to be the exclusive supplier of tyres to the new FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup. The French brand, which is also involved in motorcycle competition at MotoGP level, shares the same values as the new series which is poised to combine exciting racing with innovative technology from 2019. 

The inaugural FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup will feature five 10-lap sprints that will serve as curtain-raisers to European rounds of the MotoGPTM World Championship. Free practice will take place on the Friday, followed by qualifying the next day and the races themselves on the Sunday, prior to the MotoGP grands prix.

The grid will star 18 drivers competing in the colours of nine teams, including seven MotoGP privateer outfits, plus two others from the worlds of Moto2 or Moto3 (to be determined).

The ‘EgoGP’ bikes will be made by Italy-based Energica and will deliver a power output of 110kW (147hp) and 200Nm torque. They will be cable of accelerating from standstill to 100kph in three seconds and will have a top speed of almost 250kph!

An official pre-season test will be held at Jerez, Spain, in February 2019.
