Michelin to support European Rally Championship youngsters

11/03/2021

Michelin has joined forces with Eurosport Events , promoter of the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC), to organise the ERC-MICHELIN Talent Factory for drivers aged under 28.

With an unrivalled record of 350 wins and 58 titles at WRC level to its name, Michelin has decided to provide support for the FIA European Rally Championship’s youngsters in 2021.

Drivers of Rally2 cars equipped with tyres from its Customer Racing range will benefit from aid in the form of discounted prices, personalised advice and valuable media coverage.

The best-placed driver in the series after the first six rounds (gravel and asphalt) will be given tyres for the closing fixtures, in Hungary and the Canary Islands, while the year’s top-three finishers will be invited to tour Michelin’s factory in Clermont-Ferrand, France, to see how their tyres are made.

Registration for the ERC-MICHELIN Talent Factory is free.Michelin’s success in the ERC date back to the 1960s and 1970s when Michelin-equipped Porsche 911s and Renault-Alpines notched up victories across the continent. In the 1980s and 1990s, the French firm seamlessly picked up the gauntlet of four-wheel drive to take wins with makes like Lancia and Toyota.

Since the turn of the century, its successful run has continued with successive generations of Peugeot, Renault, Citroën, Fiat-Abarth and Skoda challengers, to name but them.

The famous tyre manufacturer has long recognised rallying’s importance as a high-tech lab for the incubation and development of new technologies. The European Rally Championship continues to play an important role in this process, with Michelin’s Customer Racing products benefiting from the latest innovations to deliver outstanding, long-lasting performance.
