Inter Europol by PR1 shines in spotlight at CTMP

16/07/2024

LMP2 shined in the spotlight at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Inter Europol by PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports made the most of their opportunity, with Nick Boulle and Tom Dillman driving the No. 52 to overall victory at the IMSA Chevrolet Grand Prix.

“You know it was really emotional,” Boulle said. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been at the front of the field like this.”

This was LMP2s first return to CTMP in five years and was the headline category for the first time in series history.

“I got to do that with the level of drivers and come away with a win,” Boulle said. “It’s really special.”

Boulle made his way to the lead after starting fourth. The No. 52 led all but 10 minutes of the race.

“You know, I have to say, the tires, the degradation was really, really good,” Boulle said. “Certainly, at around 50 laps or so, considering we qualify on the same set. But, once they came into the window, it was really consistent.”

Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports finished 1-2 in GTD PRO making Sunday an even more special day for race sponsor Chevrolet. It also marked the first win for the new Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Antonio Garcia and Alexander sims in the No. 3 Corvette finished atop the podium.

Canadian Roman De Angelis guided the No. 27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin to a GTD victory with teammate Spencer Pumpelly.

The series now heads to Road America for the IMSA SportsCar Weekend where WeatherTech races on Sunday, August 4th. The race can be seen on USA and Peacock starting at 11:00am. Road America features the only IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup race with all four classes.
