Ready for all the conditions: Michelin tires guide No. 7 Porsche Penske Motorsport to Watkins Glen victory
Michelin tires took on an ever-evolving track to help guide No. 7 Porsche Penske Motorsport’s Felipe Nasr and Dane Cameron to an exciting Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen victory.
“Super tough day, but a good day to be racing on Michelin’s tires for sure,” Cameron said. “I had to do some double stints there and the crossover between wet on slicks and then heavy rain, as can happen here at the six hours.”
The race was impacted by rain and spent 42 minutes under red flag for track conditions. Nasr took the lead on the final restart with 16 minutes to go.
“The tires handled all the conditions,” Cameron said. “I think we had a good strategy, to deal with it. We had a good enough tire, I think, to cover off, staying off the wets for a long time, which played in our favor.”
Nasr and Cameron have extended their championship lead in the GTP standings.
